Aaron Copland's "Symphony No. 3" best embodies the composer's creative style, with a strong American flavor, in which the brass unison is magnificent like a Hollywood blockbuster. Leon Botstein, Bard College President will present the works of Copland in Shanghai Symphony Orchestra Hall for the first time. Cooperating with Hu Shengnan, a percussionist in Germany and the gold medal winner of the international competition, Tan Dun's percussion concerto "Tears of Nature" was composed to celebrate the centenary of Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring". In addition, Botstein will join Wang Yalun, a talented pianist, and Xia Fei, principal trumpet of the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, to present Shostakovich's Piano Concerto No. 1 in C Minor. The performance will be held at 8:00 pm on June 10, and the ticket price ranges from 80 to 580rmb.
