A version of the Nutcracker for the 21st century, with astonishing, state-of-the-art animation and digital effects to retell this seasonal classic like it’s never been told before. The Nutcracker and I, by Alexandra Dariescu, is a multimedia performance for piano solo with dance and digital animation, which Dariescu created and produced out of a personal responsibility to reach out to younger audiences and build bridges for those perhaps new to classical music. It premiered at Barbican’s Milton Court in December 2017, and has since then enjoyed international critical acclaim on tour across the globe. January 10 and 11 evening at Shangyin Opera House.
