Considered one of the pioneering acts of the Gothenburg metal scene - and one of the forefathers of melodic death metal alongside acts like At the Gates and In Flames, Swedish act Dark Tranquillity are metal royalty. The Gothenburg band got their start in 1989 - combining ‘death metal's intensity, progressive, and Gothic experimentation with hooky, melodic, groove-oriented riffs and twin-guitar lead lines’. And while the band (like most bands of its ilk) has gone through a roster of musicians and members over the years, they’re still going strong, with their 13th album Endtime Signals dropping last year.
