Taipei indie rockers Modern Cinema Master - whose raw, dynamic, and lyrical music has captivated audiences since their breakthrough 2021 debut - returned with their ambitious and hefty sophomore release last December. A fierce no-holds barrel descent into post-punk, art rock, and noise rock - there’s a visceral edge to the ferociousness at hand here - calling to mind acts like Black Midi or Radiohead at its heaviest. And while it threatens to go off the rails in moments, there’s a rich complexity to its instrumentation which eventually gives way to a more evocative and poignant second half. The Taiwanese juggernauts are swinging through Shanghai as part of their nationwide tour.
