Tequila Boombox is made up of multicultural musicians based in Shanghai, united by a love for rhythm, improvisation, and groove. Their original material fuses “Tropical Jazz”—a vibrant blend of Latin jazz, boogaloo, blues, and soca—to awaken listeners with beachy melodies and danceable beats. The set includes originals and eclectic reworks of diverse classics. Their 2023 debut album Tequila Boombox earned praise worldwide, and their sophomore release Tropical Jazz: Live from Shanghai—featuring recordings from their June 2024 Lincoln Center set—is due summer 2025.
