Intense, genre-busting project of Philadelphia-based poet/musician and social activist Camae Ayewa - Moor Mother is a jack of all trades - ‘combining social issues with a visceral blend of hardcore electronics and her intense poetry, taking influence from punk, hip-hop, jazz, soul, and numerous other genres’. Truly a rollercoaster of capitalizing work over the past decade - from post-metal team-ups (The Film) to soothing jazz hip hop jams (Jazz Codes) to evocative, and nightmarish electroacoustic collages (The Great Bailout). The one-of-a-kind artist makes her China debut this Thursday at Blue Note, courtesy of promoters Wormtemple as part of the 2nd Cadence Music Festival. For the special event, she’ll be joined by pianist Simon Sieger and Afro percussionist and instrumentalist Dudu Kouate.
