Trumpet/Vocal: Antonio X

Antonio Ximénez López is a jazz trumpeter, composer, and conductor from Madrid, Spain. Classically trained in his early years, he later studied under jazz great Barry Harris and learned from masters like Joe Henderson and Kenny Werner. A versatile musician spanning jazz, Latin, and pop, he performed for 15 years with the Bob Sands Big Band, played in Paquito D'Rivera’s Latin Big Band, and shared stages with Latin legends like Celia Cruz and Olga Guillot. He has also recorded with pop artists such as Shakira and La Oreja De Van Gogh.

As a conductor, he has led the Clasijazz Swing & Funk Big Band and The Pearl Big Band, and currently serves as guest conductor of the Shanghai JZ Big Band. He taught for over a decade at music conservatories in Madrid before moving to Shanghai in 2010, where he regularly performs Latin jazz infused with salsa, bolero, and samba at venues like JZ Club. His prolific career includes contributing to the soundtrack of the Goya Award-winning film Barrio, releasing over 20 albums such as Vientos Flamencos, and performing at international jazz festivals including Marciac and Copenhagen.

Piano: Liu Liwei

A young jazz pianist who began studying piano at age 7. He enrolled at the Central Conservatory of Music’s Gulangyu Piano School at 11, studying under Lin Xiaoru and Lin Wen. In 2019, he was admitted to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, majoring in piano performance under Associate Professor Xie Jingxian.

He discovered jazz in high school and continued to explore it independently, frequently collaborating with Shanghai jazz musicians during university. He is also active on Bilibili and Xiaohongshu under the IDs “和音社_茶さん” and “茶的钢琴屋,” sharing diverse musical content. In 2021, he reached the finals of the Jazz Masters Competition, impressing judges with his skill. He regularly performs at top Shanghai venues including JZ Club, Wooden Box, Blue Note, House of Blues & Jazz, and Lincoln Jazz Shanghai.

In 2023, he ranked third in his class and was admitted to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music’s graduate program in piano performance. There, he studies jazz composition with Wang Kaiji. In 2024, he performed with renowned Japanese saxophonist Nobuya Sugawa, joined the virtual band Ice Rabbit on tour, and served as a keyboardist for the music program Homegrown, collaborating with K-pop girl group KISS OF LIFE. He often works with other acclaimed musicians, including Da Mi, Jasmine Kelly, and Leo1bee.

Bass: Eamonn Morris

A bassist and educator from the United States. Though only in his 20s, he already has over a decade of experience in pop music. He is skilled in jazz, rock, classical, country, folk, R&B, funk, soul, and progressive music. In addition to jazz bass, he is proficient in classical cello and double bass performance.

During his years of training, he studied classical cello under renowned instructor Kimberly Hanto and was selected for the Western States Honor Orchestra and the Colorado All-State Orchestra. He also received a scholarship for double bass performance at the University of Northern Colorado Jazz Festival. He studied composition with John Drumheller and was a member of the Boulder Laptop Orchestra at the University of Colorado Boulder.

As a long-term member of Brad Fitch and the Tropical Boys, he performed, recorded, and taught jazz improvisation in Colorado. Since moving to Shanghai, Eamonn has been performing with various groups across genres and is a familiar face on the city’s jazz stages.

Drums: Miao Yutian (Xiaoxiao)

A young jazz drummer skilled in jazz, funk, Latin, and other styles. She began studying drums in 2011 under Kong Lingtan and later trained in snare and marimba with Kong Shuyi. In 2018, she was admitted to the Middle School Affiliated to the Tianjin Conservatory of Music, studying under Li Hongqing, Jiang Feng, and Wang Wei. In 2023, she entered the Shanghai Conservatory of Music with outstanding results and now studies under Ge Weiming.

She currently serves as the drummer for the Shanghai Conservatory Jazz Big Band and has performed at major venues including the West Bund Grand Theater, Shanghai Opera House, JZ Club, and Lincoln Jazz Shanghai. She has participated in high-profile events such as the Shanghai Spring International Music Festival and the National Ancient Rhymes · Modern Revival—Jazz and Folk Crossover Concert.
