Top Floor Circus, Huanchao
Shanghainese legends Top Floor Circus - whose carnivalesque romps through folk, rock, pop, crosstalk, and punk have made them one of the city’s most essential artistic exports return to the big stage for a special performance at VAS ear. Led by Lu Chen - a man whose transformative stage persona has always tickled audiences - the band got its start in 2001, amassing a legion of fans and the nickname ‘Shanghai's dirty underpants' for their rustic, humorous blend of rock and folk songs centering on everyday life, all sung in Shanghai dialect. The band will be supported by another band for an affinity for local dialects - Huanchao, who hail from the coastal city of Ningbo and craft low-key, poetic urban folk with a dream pop soul lurking deep within.
