Taiwanese indie act Skip Skip Ben Ben - a band I’ve been enamored with since my early days in Beijing make their long-awaited return to China! Seemingly taking all the best features of decades’ worth of music, genres and styles - a little lo-fi art folk there, noise-rock here, some 60s psychedelic groove, some 90s shoegaze rock – the band is led Taiwanese multi-instrumentalist and singer Ben Ben (who also put out music with Freckles and Boyz & Girl) - whose ethereal voice, though so petite at times it's hard to understand, was as sharp as a knife, or as her guitar plucking – hitting pitches so high and yet avoiding turning it into a glass-shattering screech. Packing a heavy sound beneath its dream pop veneer, Skip Skip Ben Ben is a lightning in a bottle kind of band.
