About the Show

In the 1990s, when louder guitar-driven sounds dominated the music scene, Belle and Sebastian emerged from Glasgow with a very different approach. Their debut album Tigermilk was recorded in just three days and later became an important record in indie music history.

Five months after Tigermilk, the band released If You're Feeling Sinister, an album later recognized as one of the defining works of Indie Pop and Twee Pop. The album received a 10.0 rating in Pitchfork’s classic review and has been widely regarded as one of Belle and Sebastian’s most important releases.

Belle and Sebastian’s music often focuses on ordinary people, loneliness, youth, and small moments in everyday life. Their songs combine soft vocals, acoustic guitars, strings, and arrangements that expand intimate stories into a wider musical space.
