This chamber music concert features the Italy-based Trio Hermes in a piano trio program spanning Beethoven, Shostakovich, and Pizzetti. The repertoire moves from Classical-era monumentality to early 20th-century intensity, presented as part of the 2026 Future Masters concert series.
This concert centers on the piano trio repertoire, performed by Trio Hermes, an Italian ensemble dedicated to this classic chamber music formation. The program opens with Beethoven’s Piano Trio No. 7, known as the “Archduke,” one of the most expansive and influential works in the genre. It continues with Shostakovich’s Piano Trio in C Minor, an early work marked by dramatic contrasts, and concludes with Pizzetti’s Piano Trio in A Major, representing 20th-century Italian chamber music.
Together, the program traces the evolution of the piano trio across different musical languages, from Classical balance to modern expressive tension.
Program is subject to change.

Trio Hermes is an Italian piano trio consisting of pianist Greta Maria Lobefaro, violinist Ginevra Bassetti, and cellist Francesca Giglio. The ensemble focuses on the piano trio repertoire and emphasizes clarity of structure, balance between voices, and stylistic accuracy. Their repertoire spans core Classical and Romantic works alongside 20th-century and contemporary compositions, with particular attention to Italian composers.
Since 2025, Trio Hermes has been a Pirastro Young Artist ensemble and has collaborated with Brilliant Classics on recording projects. Italian broadcaster Rai Radio 3 has featured the trio as part of its “Next Generation” series.

Ginevra Bassetti is a professor at the Conservatorio Cesare Pollini di Padova. Born in Rome, she studied at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory and with several European violinists through advanced training and masterclasses. She is the founder, manager, and creative director of Trio Hermes and performs on a 1911 Italian violin by Enrico Orselli.

Francesca Giglio graduated with honors from the Salerno Conservatory and completed further studies at institutions including the Lausanne University of Music. She has toured internationally and performs regularly with Trio Hermes at major festivals and concert series. She plays a 19th-century Bohemian cello.

Greta Maria Lobefaro is a professor at the Conservatorio Francesco Cilea di Reggio Calabria. She has won multiple international piano competitions and has released recordings with Odradek and DigitalClassic. Her work includes both solo and chamber music repertoire.
This concert offers a focused look at the piano trio as a genre, performed by an ensemble specializing in this repertoire. It is well suited for listeners interested in chamber music dialogue, landmark works like Beethoven’s “Archduke” Trio, and the contrast between Classical and modern European styles.
