The National Theatre presents The Audience, featuring Helen Mirren reprising her role as Queen Elizabeth II. The production reveals the private Tuesday meetings between the Queen and 12 British prime ministers over 60 years. This is a live HD screening, not a stage performance.

Helen Mirren, who won the Academy Award for portraying Queen Elizabeth II in the 2006 film The Queen, leads this West End production of The Audience. The play explores the Queen’s private conversations with successive prime ministers, including Winston Churchill, Harold Wilson, Margaret Thatcher, John Major, and David Cameron. Through these encounters, the audience witnesses the arc of Elizabeth II’s reign, from young mother to grandmother, as prime ministers come and go while she remains constant.
The play reunites writer Peter Morgan and Helen Mirren, following their collaboration on the Oscar-winning film. Direction is by Oscar-nominated Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot, The Hours). The production has been praised for its engaging, realistic, and surprising storytelling.
This screening offers the chance to see Helen Mirren reprise her Academy Award-winning portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II. It provides a unique perspective on six decades of British political history through the Queen’s private meetings with 12 prime ministers. The performance is presented by the National Theatre in HD, making this acclaimed West End production accessible to audiences outside London.
