Synopsis

Bai Suzhen, the thousand-year-old snake spirit, and her companion Xiao Qing arrive in Lin’an (modern Hangzhou) and marry Xu Xian by West Lake. Master Fahai of Jinshan Temple exposes Bai Suzhen’s true form with realgar wine, shocking Xu Xian to death.

Bai Suzhen resurrects Xu Xian with a magical herb, but Fahai traps him at Jinshan Temple. Bai Suzhen summons river creatures to flood the temple but must retreat. Xu Xian escapes, reunites with Bai Suzhen and Xiao Qing, and pledges loyalty. Ultimately, Bai Suzhen is imprisoned under Leifeng Pagoda. Eighteen years later, Xiao Qing destroys the tower with Samadhi Fire and rescues her, reuniting the family.
