About the Performance

Nordic Groove fuses the crisp atmosphere of the Nordics with the free-flowing energy of New York jazz. The concert features both original works by Pekka Pylkkänen, including Harajuku, and timeless jazz pieces such as God Bless the Child, Afro Blue, and Tin Tin Deo. The program moves between introspective and energetic pieces, highlighting both tradition and contemporary exploration.

Performers

Saxophone: Pekka Pylkkänen

Finnish saxophonist and composer, recognized as one of Europe’s leading jazz artists. He has performed in over 70 countries and collaborated internationally as a soloist, recording artist, and educator.

Piano: Zhu Mang

Jazz pianist and keyboardist, trained at Shanghai Conservatory of Music and the Prince Claus Conservatoire in the Netherlands. Collaborated with international artists and studied under several contemporary jazz masters.

Bass: Danny Zanker

Began his career at 16, performing professionally in Texas and later in New York. He has played with Balkan, Middle Eastern, and avant-garde jazz ensembles.

Drums: Guillaume Palomba

French drummer with a master’s in jazz performance from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. Active in Europe and the US, currently based in Shanghai as a performer and educator.
