Huge weekend of theater, parties, and more at The New Writing Supermarket, that loft/warehouse space on Xinhua Lu. They’re serving "a fourfold sensory revelry": an original, 90-minute musical, an immersive survival game, two after-parties (by Love Bang on Friday and Sugar House on Saturday), and a night market. The weekend revolves around the one-woman show, “Tracy’s Trial”, which is written and directed by – and starring - the space’s founder, Hana Chen, a national touring theater actress and graduate of Peking University and Wuhan University.
“Tracy Wang, 33 years old, stands on a peculiar trial stand. Charge: Uncertain whether to become a mother. This is a one-woman musical about being a modern woman at a crossroads. When reproduction is quantified as survival currency, and bodily autonomy becomes a battlefield contested by many, how will Tracy choose?”
The play is in Mandarin with English subtitles. Tickets are available on WeChat. Shows are at 9pm on Friday and Saturday, with after-parties at 11pm. Show starts at 4:30pm on Sunday. The market runs from 7:30pm on Friday and Saturday and 2:30pm on Sunday.
