Beijing’s art punks Wasted Laika, known for their evocative, charismatic, and poetic rock and roll, returned stronger than ever with their sophomore LP Red Butterfly, Green Peacock, earlier this year. With a more ambitious and mature sound, its bittersweet romanticism seems ageless, with a chamber pop twang (with a touch of surf rock by way of the Eastern Bloc) that grounds their sound. Filled with illustrious amplitude and rich theatricality, the band returns to Shanghai to celebrate their newly released acoustic album - so expect an even more intimate outing.
