Role Overview:
We are looking for a Retail Tenant Representation professional to join our Shanghai team. The role combines business development, client advisory work, and deal execution, with exposure to both domestic and international mandates.
Experience in real estate or retail is preferred but not strictly mandatory. We place strong emphasis on attitude and personality: commercial curiosity, a proactive mindset, and strong interpersonal skills are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development & Client Advisory
- Support the growth of the retail tenant representation business in China, in line with the wider Asia strategy.
- Help identify and pursue new opportunities with international and domestic retail brands.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted adviser on site selection, expansion, and portfolio optimisation.
- Participate in client pitches and negotiations, including regional or cross-border assignments.
- Work closely with the Shanghai Retail team, other China offices, and the Asia platform to deliver seamless, high-quality service.
Transaction & Brokerage
- Assist in leading and executing tenant representation assignments in Shanghai and other key cities.
- Coordinate multi-city or regional roll-out projects, ensuring consistency of approach and quality.
- Provide advice on locations, leasing terms, deal structures, and market entry or consolidation strategies.
- Ensure all transactions comply with Savills policies, client requirements, and relevant regulations.
Team & Platform Contribution
- Contribute to building the tenant representation platform by sharing market intelligence, contacts, and best practices.
- Support junior team members where appropriate and help foster a positive, collaborative team culture.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
Experience is preferred but not mandatory for the right candidate with strong potential.
- Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in Real Estate, Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
- Experience in retail leasing, tenant representation, commercial real estate, retail brand expansion, or related areas is an advantage.
- Exposure to international brands or multi-site retail portfolios will be viewed favourably.
Skills & Attributes:
- Ideally bilingual in English and Mandarin, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients and colleagues.
- Confident presenter with developing or proven negotiation skills.
- Commercially minded, with a genuine interest in retail and consumer trends.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable working to deadlines and targets.
- A collaborative team player with a positive, solutions-focused attitude.
