Nice four-star hotel overlooking the huge, man–made Dishui Lake in the far south-east of Pudong. Well-designed hotel, though the service is not at the five-star level they're striving for. Still, the natural scenery and serenity around here makes up for any shortcomings of the staff. The hotel grounds are quite like a video game level, with trees, grassy hills, forests, a pool with dragon–fish spouting water, tennis courts, and a sailboat club (they offer sailing classes). The food in the Chinese restaurant is pretty solid, while the breakfast buffet is definitely not five-star level. Afternoon tea is just average. The hotel frequently offers discount packages for around 900rmb a night, including breakfast and sometimes a sailing class. Definitely worth escaping downtown and staying out there for a few nights if you can get the room for that price. Lots of nearby attractions too, like botanical gardens, fruit-picking farms, and the ocean. Definitely opt for a room overlooking the lake instead of the parking lot.
