Probably the cheapest -- and definitely the dive-iest -- bar in Xintiandi, Mekka is a walk-up watering hole in an alley just off the main strip. It's the kind of place where people do a "shot challenge", like drinking seven shots of 151 in under 30 seconds, to get their name featured on a hall-of-fame board. It is not the kind of place to get a classic cocktail like a Negroni or an Old Fashioned -- they don't know how to make them. That's not the point of this place, though, and it's a fun spot to pre-game. The friendly young owner is always around and they also offer to-go cups at 50rmb for any drink. Shots are around 40rmb and cocktails are 48-70rmb.
