Yet another addition to Shanghai's speakeasy craze of recent years, Xiao Lao Ga is a noodle shop posing as a front to a (not-so-well) hidden cocktail lounge in back. The food menu is the same stuff you'll find in your run of the mill Shanghai noodle shop, like red-braised beef noodles, cold wontons with peanut sauce, and fried pork chops. You'll pay a tad more, because they've put a little thought into the décor. But it all plays second fiddle to the drinks they mix in the back, which are actually pretty decent, if not a tad pricy for this neighborhood. Expect mostly grown-up classics, like martinis, manhattans, and old fashioneds, for 85 to 95rmb.
