The oldest Anglican cathedral of its kind in China, Holy Trinity Church is off-limits to the public. Located just off Nanjing Donglu, the original Trinity Church was a shoddy thing built on land donated by a bigwig at massively wealthy British trading firm Dent & Co. After the roof collapsed in 1850, they built a bigger, much better version that was completed in 1869. It was converted into a cinema during the Cultural Revolution, and has served as a police office and exit bureau. It's now the HQ for a Protestant Church in Shanghai.
