Editor's Description

Last updated: Jun 5, 2019
One of Shanghai's oldest halal mutton hotpot restaurants. Hong Chang Xing was established in 1891, offering mutton and beef hotpot, also plenty of hot dishes. Good for proper dinner or a quick meal. Upstairs are private rooms, often hosting family events like weddings or birthday party, with a minimum spend around 1000rmb. The restaurant also has a pastry house, deli, and take away snacks. Hong Chang Xing tends to get really busy around 12pm and 6pm, and there's always a line in front of their niurou jianbao (牛肉煎包, pan-fried beef buns) window.
