Curriculum

Concordia follows an American curriculum that meets United States university entrance standards. A broad base of subjects in all academic areas is required for graduation. The curriculum is adaptable, within limits, to the academic needs of individual students.

Early Childhood (EC)

In Concordia's Early Childhood program, we know every student is different. We allow and encourage our youngest learners to explore their unique and innate gifts and interests at a young age. Designed for learners aged 3 to 5, our program focuses on holistic development, encompassing academics, motor skills, and social and emotional learning. Understanding the critical role of these formative years, we place a strong emphasis on character and values, integrating them into every aspect of our curriculum to lay a solid foundation for personal and academic success.

In addition to fostering good character, our academic structure introduces young learners to core subjects, and language development in both English and Mandarin . We lay the groundwork for STEM education with age-appropriate activities in computational thinking and robotics, crafted to captivate and stimulate inquisitive minds. At Concordia, we believe that the early childhood years are not merely a prelude but a vital chapter in shaping a child's future.

Elementary School (ES)

In Concordia's Elementary School, we are committed to recognizing and nurturing the distinctive talents of our students from grades 1 to 5. Our rich curriculum not only lays a solid academic foundation in literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies, but also includes a dedicated focus on Mandarin, technology and information literacy, the arts, and physical education.

Recognizing the interests and inherent talents within each child, Elementary School provides increased opportunities for leadership development and collaboration, allowing students to explore their potential and enhance their innate abilities.

Our educational support team, which includes specialized teachers and counselors, ensures that each student's unique gifts are identified and cultivated, preparing them for the future stages of their educational journey.

Middle School (MS)

Concordia's Middle School program is specially designed for students in grade 6 to 8, to support them through the critical transition into adolescence and let them deep dive into their unique talents and interests. We emphasize not only academic growth but also a focus on their overall well-being, the cultivation of independence, building a sense of responsibility, and the development of leadership skills.

In addition to a more rigorous approach to math, science and humanities, our tailored curriculum provides a range of applied learning-focused electives, allowing students to engage deeply with subjects they are passionate about, from technology and the arts to humanities and sciences. Our sports and extracurricular programs also offer fertile ground for middle school students to experience competition, shine in performance, and rise to leadership opportunities. The supportive community provides a safe space for students to test their wings and expand their innate abilities and interests, contributing to their holistic growth and the broadening of their academic and personal horizons.

High School (HS)

The Concordia High School experience, from grades 9 to 12, further nurtures our students’ gifts, while facilitating a journey towards self-discovery and academic distinction. The curriculum is designed to reflect the diversity of our students' gifts and aspirations. Through a blend of core subjects and Advanced Placement courses, students delve deeply into their areas of interest, while elective choices allow them to pursue new passions and expand their academic horizons.

The High School Applied Learning program is a cornerstone of our philosophy, bridging personal interests and academic concepts with real-world scenarios. This approach not only enriches our students' educational experiences but also fosters a sense of academic vitality and personal growth, essential for their future endeavors.

Beyond academics, our students lead and participate in extracurricular activities spanning academics, athletics, and the arts, providing a platform for competition, leadership development and creative expression.

Concordia graduates have a remarkable track record of acceptances into world-renowned institutions. We take pride in matching the aspirations of our students with institutions that will foster their continued growth and lead them to fulfilling futures.

Activities

Concordia offers a comprehensive extracurricular program that encompasses a vibrant mix of sports, fine arts, and diverse activities, nurturing the natural gifts of students and enriching student life across all grade levels.

Our expansive sport program fields over 60 teams across 30 sports each year, offering students the opportunity to explore their passion and develop their athletic skills, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Our students have access to top-notch facilities including multiple gyms, a FIFA Two-Star soccer pitch, tennis courts, and specialized areas for sports medicine and strength conditioning.

The fine arts are a pivotal part of our extracurricular program. Starting in Early Childhood, students have access to afterschool activities in music, drama, and visual arts, with competition and performance opportunities growing as they advance through the grades.

Our membership in various regional and international athletic and fine arts associations, including the Asia Pacific Activities Conference (APAC), the Association for Music in International Schools (AMIS), and the Association of China and Mongolia International Schools (ACAMIS), provides students with exceptional opportunities to grow, compete, and express themselves through a variety of competitions and festivals.

Beyond sports and arts, a wide range of additional extracurricular activities, led by our dedicated staff, volunteer parents, or external experts, are offered on campus. These activities provide opportunities for students to delve deeper into areas of interests from STEM and the arts to service and leadership, further enriching our students' holistic development and ensuring a well-rounded educational journey. Additionally, student-led clubs let students demonstrate their skills in leadership, academics, and service. These clubs are driven by student interest and allow students to play a directive role in their activities.

Through these multifaceted opportunities, Concordia students have the chance to grow and shine with their gifts, hone their skills, and make meaningful contributions and achievements.
