Red Cross Society of China was founded in Shanghai in 1904. Today, many branches exist across the country, but the Shanghai branch now has 1,500 corporate memberships with around 900,000 members, in addition to 1,200 volunteer service teams with 90,000 volunteers. The Red Cross organizations have programs focused on disaster relief and preparedness, first aid training, aid to vulnerable groups, volunteer services, and the dissemination of the Red Cross Movement.
