China Association of SOS Children's Villages is a welfare institution for the care of orphans set up by SOS-Kinderdorf International and the Chinese Government. There are villages established in Tianjin, Yantai, Qiqihar, Nanchang, Kaifeng, Chengdu, Putian, Urumqi, Lhasa, and Beijing; all using a family-type unit has been utilized to care for the orphans in SOS Children's Villages. Every village has 12-18 families with a single woman recruited to be the maternal figure, and they each foster 7-8 kids below the age of 14.
