A pearl art DIY jewelry studio in Shanghai, and probably the very first of its kind in the city. The process at Perlart starts when the customer chooses clams from the in-studio aquariums. At this point, it's unknown how many, what size or what color the pearls will be. After the chosen clam is opened (the staff can do it for you if you like), the pearl are extracted, washed and cleaned. After that, customers can choose from a variety of jewelry available in the store, including earrings, necklaces, bracelets, hairpins, rings and other accessories, matching them to their pearls and deciding which goes where. The staff then help customers drill holes in the chosen pearls to help mount them, and ultimately, polishing the finished DIY jewelry. The staff is on-hand throughout the entire process.
