Cardinal Oaks Play-Based Learning Center is an early childhood education center specializing in Play-Based Learning (PBL) programs for children age 0-6. Inspired by the child-centered, play-based approach at Stanford University’s Bing Nursery School, our curriculum is designed to promote and cultivate essential skills our children will need to be successful in the innovation driven new world: curiosity, creativity, critical thinking , problem solving and communication. Cardinal Oaks is founded by Stanford MBA Christine Ching, together with an international group of early educational specialists, and a group of successful high tech entrepreneurs in China. They offer Baby & Me class (6-24 months old), Pre-Nursery class (2-3 years old) and Extracurricular Class(3-6 years old).

Curriculum

Cardinal Oaks’ PBL curriculum is based on a decades of research on early childhood development. It is designed to give a child the opportunity for uninterrupted play in our carefully designed, child-centered environment. Children are given the time and opportunity to explore and investigate using open-ended materials - sand, water, clay, paint and blocks. During this time, teachers will closely observe children while they play and when the opportunity arises they will ask guided questions to support the children’s learning and develop it further. When children are given the time and space to play freely, it allows them to develop the essential soft skills - creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, social and communication skills, leading them to discover and learn about the world around them.
