Jiao Tong University has been teaching Chinese as a second language since the 1990’s. Their long-term language program has 20 class hours per week and has four different areas of focus: General Chinese track is divided into nine different levels for people at all stages of Mandarin study; New Chinese track to improves Mandarin proficiency in just one semester; Special Course is for those who already can have conversations in Mandarin; Advanced Culture and Business is for experienced students who have already achieved a high proficiency in Mandarin. All prospective students will take a placement test to determine the most appropriate course for them.
