The title of this place might be a bit misleading, but that’s what it is… sort of. Famous Shanghai-based author of Lust, Caution and Love in a Fallen City, Eileen Chang (张爱玲 in Chinese) was born in this building, and there is a museum, of sorts. It’s just a room where you can see some of the furniture that may or may not have been there when she was. The rest of the newly restored lane house is a cultural center with a public library and an exhibition space on the top floor. It’s really not worth traveling across town to see, but if you happen to be in the area – or fanatic about following in the footsteps of the famous – there’s no harm in popping your head in.
