Early Childhood Education Curriculum (2-5 years)

Soong Ching Ling Kindergarten has an E.C.E. curriculum that is based on ‘The Early Years Foundation Stage’ curriculum of England, the period of education up to five years.

Key Stage 1 Primary 

Key Stage 1 (KS1) represents the first two years of the Primary phase. During the transition from our Reception class to a Year One class, we will be supporting the children as they adjust from a curriculum which is differently organised and structured. There will be assistance for those children who have not yet reached all the goals of the EYFS and for all children there will be progression and continuity.

Montessori Curriculum

The environment is arranged according to subject area (Practical Life, Sensorial, Math, Literacy, Culture and Creativity) and children are always free to move around the room and between subject areas. There is no limit to how long a child can work with a piece of material. At any one time in a day, all subjects -- math, language, science, history, geography, art, music, etc., will be worked with, at all levels. The environment contains everything a child of this age needs for his/her development and education. It is a safe and reliable place where the child feels free to move around as s/he wishes and to explore. The child has complete freedom in the prepared environment, within limits.

Our Unique Approach

At Soong Ching Ling Kindergarten all children are invited to learn Mandarin in a fun, natural and constructive way, in keeping with our topic-based, interactive and holistic education approach.

Our fully qualified Chinese teachers work in partnership with our English speaking teachers during the morning lessons and activities and teach Chinese curriculum based lessons and activities in the afternoons at every year level.

In this way, children link languages and learn to readily speak Mandarin as well as develop a deep appreciation of Chinese culture and traditions.

We are happy to offer after school activities to children in the following classes: Montessori (2nd Year); Reception and Year One from 3pm - 4pm. Below is an example of some of the classes that we may offer:
