Popularity this month
Famous Guangzhou-style dim sum teahouse chain (the original location apparently opened in 1933) that has, in recent decades, made itself very comfortable in Shanghai malls -- and, the hype mostly checks out. It's polished, reliable Cantonese dim sum with a menu big enough to cause mild decision paralysis, and prices that stay just reasonable enough to justify repeat visits. There are more modern touches scattered throughout the menu, but the classics remain the safest (and most satisfying) bets: shrimp har gow, siu mai, red rice changfen (rice rolls), cha shao bao, salted egg yolk buns. Dim sum plates: run 28-45rmb each, rice rolls and specialty items: range 38-58rmb, buns & pastries from 22-36rmb. Tea comes as a pot for the table, but priced per person from 10-15rmb. Vibe is bright, busy, and efficient. Expect queues during peak hours, fast table turnover, and servers who know the menu cold. It’s mall-based, yes, but doesn’t feel soulless. Good for when you’re craving straightforward, well-executed Cantonese dim sum without committing to a banquet-level spend.
