Sharply designed, minimal, and warmly-lit cocktail bar in an old lanehouse on the far south end of Shaanxi Nan Lu. The scene is off-white bricks, shadows, good acoustics, and comfort, with a kind of timeless quality that evokes both the 1930s and the 2020s. Heading the bar is Ming Liao, a veteran of the well known Guangzhou speakeasy, Hope and Sesame. Cocktails are generally in the 100rmb range, with a short, paper menu of current selections, plus another set of off-menu cocktails and a few snacks like Nanjing duck. Some of the cocktails are pre-batched, while others are made on the spot. Service is friendly and approachable. Would be a good place for a date or a conversation with a client who works in design or fashion.
