Shopping: Buy Stuff on Taobao, Return Stuff on Taobao
Well today I finally took the plunge and made an appointment (yes they spoke English on the phone, which I always feel guilty about... must do my Mandarin homework) for both eyebrows and full leg wax. The salon is very easy to find on the road running parallel behind Huaihai Lu and the appointment started bang on time, in a private room upstairs; eyebrows first then legs.
The results? I have a new eyebrow shape vs my previous London style... not as arched... but I quite like it, it's actually more natural. A bit more 'Cara Delavigne' than before.
Legs? Well, the hairs were only JUST long enough on my lower leg to warrant a wax to be honest, but my technician still managed to get good results. (This might be TMI, but upper leg no problem - the hairs are longer but very pale and fine. I mean, who shaves their upper leg?)
The technician even went over my legs with tweezers and sanitised both my skin and her hands. She was very diligent and thorough, and speedy - clearly she has been well trained and has done this a lot.
Total cost was RMB 50 for the eyebrows (so the same as my friend Julie) and 260 for the full leg, so 310 altogether. I think that's pretty good, plus, I tipped her 10%.
FYI; other services I could see on offer here were good old mani-pedis.
Tip - ladies, it's been a while since I got my legs waxed (I basically got the leg wax because I'll be buggered if I can find Intuition razor blades anywhere) and I would recommend against wearing a thong. This fact alone made me tip my lovely technician, professionally turning a blind eye to everything on display.
I would recommend Helen's - and I will be going back."
