Gallery Suites is, despite the boring name, not a corporate high-rise hotel. In fact, it's much the opposite: a 39-suite boutique hotel in a 1933 heritage building, with fully refurbished rooms and a mix of Art Deco and chinoiserie decor. Location -- Hengshan Lu -- is great for access to the subway, strolling around the tree-lined streets, and the cheesy-seedy neon bars of the area (easily avoided).
