In 1950, Fudan University in Shanghai, China founded the High School Affiliated to Fudan University (FDFZ). In 2002, FDFZ expanded by establishing its International Division, also known today as Fudan International School (FDIS). Recognizing the needs of its diverse, multinational student body, FDIS promotes creativity, self-reflection, inquiry, service-learning and holistic development of each student, to help equip them with the ability to lead in the 21st century. FDIS graduates have gone up to study at top universities across the world. FDIS is a small thriving community where the education of every child is personalized. The school promotes itself as a "true blend of Western and Eastern culture".

Curriculum

English track: International curriculum at all levels, with a US-based program for Grades 1-8. Grades 9-10 courses are tailored on the basis of our school’s ESLRS as well as the AP & the IB. Advanced Placement (AP) courses and the Full IB Diploma program are offered for Grades 11-12 students. Selective courses are offered for Grade 6-10 students; Chinese track: To prepare foreign students to learn Chinese and get into well-known universities in China.

Teaching Staff

66 teachers, 27 expatriate and 39 Chinese. Chinese staff is usually Masters or Doctorate graduates from the famous Fudan University. Staff members come from all over the world, including the U.S., the U.K., Canada, Germany, Russia, Spain, Australia, New Zealand, France, and India.

Activities

Competitive sports (Cross Country, Badminton, Boy’s and Girls’ Basketball, Soccer, Volleyball); clubs for music and the arts (Dancing, Photography, Filming, Design, musical theatre); school yearbook; leadership activities – student government association; service and environmental clubs; academic-related clubs (SAT Prep, Debate, Model United Nations) and more.
