Tucked obscurely away in a nongtang off Julu Lu, Life is a quirky, homey cafe catering to Shanghai's bohemian types. The air hangs heavy with incense. The decor is slapdash, whimsical, and furnished with sofas and tea tables. Adding to the casual atmosphere is pair of very pampered cats lounging lazily about the place. To drink, there is a selection of coffees, teas, juice blends, and beers. There is also a small menu of Western dishes like pastas and soups as well as some assorted snacks. Life is buried deep off the street, but the alley is amply marked with signs. Just follow the arrows.
