This is the re-boot of a long-time Shanghai institution, the Ruijin Guest House. Once an official state guest house for government officials and visiting heads of state, the property has undergone a bit of a face lift. The seven hectares of lush gardens, ponds, fountains and topiaries remain, but they've added two new guest room buildings that fit in seamlessly with the surrounding heritage architecture. Service standards have improved, as well, now that the InterContinental Group has taken over management.
