After a recommendation from a friend, my girlfriend and I decided to try HOF after dinner for some desert. It took us a few minutes to figure out exactly what we wanted because the desert menu is fairly extensive and has a good variety of choices. We settled on death by chocolate cake and tiramisu with a couple of expressos. Both deserts were some of the best ive had, the cake was very moist and rich and had the perfect amount of sweetness. Both desserts went perfectly with expresso. The owner also let us sample one of their truffles which just melted in your mouth perfectly and was the perfect size. We will definitely be coming back to try some other deserts and some of their regular food.

Firstly got interested into that place as a chocoholic, went back to widen my knowledge about that treasure ingredient by talking to Brian, the passionate man behind the concept, brought my friends there to share the yummy food and drinks, made it my second home for the cosy atmosphere.
Shanghai has finally a great venue for those looking for high-quality chocolate desserts.

What a find! To think it's set up by a fellow Southeast-Asian! I loved everything I tried, the location is MUCH better than its old one. the staff are friendly, though a little stupid. they forgot one of our orders, and the boss asked if we ordered in english or chinese. for a place that OBVIOUSLY caters to expats, some english training for the waiters should be customary.
but anyway, great find in shanghai! no doubt will contribute to my ever expanding waistline

Am not a chocolate fan but still, big thumbs up for HOF. The owner is very friendly and passionate about the business which is always great to see. I tried the creme brulee which was simply stunning albeit a bit small. The yogurt with orange had a very smooth texture although the taste was a little strong for our liking. Nonetheless, all the products are of a very high quality and you can certainly taste it in the food. They also serve a small selection of other foods including bruscetta and lasagne. Given the strong emphasis on quality ingredients, it'll be interesting to see whether these are as good.
HOF is a very cosy place that is very well managed. The dark decor creates a very warm environment which will make it a great place for the colder weather. For those that love chocolates or looking for a place to relax, this ought to be high on the list!

Passed through it so many times, but never had time to drop by.....
Finally, my day as come, and I sat down with friends for dessert! Nice!
I have been looking for great desserts in Shanghai for a while. The desserts are classy, nice, taste great, and it's not too expensive. Yes, it's more expensive that a cake at a store, but You get what you paid for.
1. Chocolate covered brownie. If everyone in China eats this, they will fall in love with this American Classics.
2. The Malaysian dessert is very very nice. What a nice surprise. Having be there a few times, I think I wanted something else. That proove to be great. Completely different, but AWESOME!
3. Ok, not everything is perfect, the panna cotta was overly sweet, and the rose flavor is just too much. I think the girls might like it, but not me!
5. Great wine and cocktail. Coctails are a little expensive, but worth the splurge. Better than the Bun cocktails....
Keep it up!

Lovely desserts and hot chocolate.I can never decide what to have, everything looks so good. This shop is heaven sent!
And as a Malaysian I was very excited to see the Malaysian Kuih Talam. It was beautifully presented of course, and then I realised that this 'kuih', with the pandan custard on top and the glutinuous rice bottom, is actually "Kuih Serimuka". The correct Kuih Talam has the same pandan custard at the bottom, with a white coconut cream layer on top.
At RMB 25, it's kinda steep, as one could buy 10 pieces of kuih talam or kuih serimuka back home (in Malaysia). But beggars can't be choosers, so, many thanks to Brian Tan for allowing homesick Malaysians a (very posh) taste of home sweet home.

I find always interesting the art of dessert. Desserts must be elegant, not so sweet and creative. My wife loves desserts, so naturally we are mostly looking for good places to hang out for afternoon tea/coffee.
At HOF the dessert creation and presentation is 5 stars. When we arrived there weren't any tables, but the boss immediately set up a table from nowhere to accommodate us, since no one seemed to be moving any time soon.
Since we were so close to the bar we had the chance to interact with he people behind and take a look at what was going on (we are in the industry). I had a creme brulee and my wife a very elegant chocolate cake - I asked the boss if he could recommend a matching cocktail, and we agreed on a very well stirred classic a dry martini, which balanced out perfectly with my dessert. The drink was cold, strong and not watery -
Later on we packed some very pretty cupcakes to take home, and I could not help to ask for an iced truffle which I saw on the menu earlier - they are like bonbons but with ice cream in the middle, in my case it was a white chocolate, lychee martini truffle - I will definitely go back for their savory stuff and wine.
Its a great place to bring your guest form overseas and have a nice chat over a coffee, a cocktail or a glass of wine and obviously a slice of goodness. A small note, takeaway boxes could be improved to enhance the experience, however it is a venue which just started - so I am sure the boss will take care of that.

Went there with a couple of my girlfriends after dinner. We tried several cocktails and I especially liked one which has berry and lychee flavor. Desserts were divine esp. the chocolate souffle... yummy. Service was ok but not much savory things to choose from.
