This venue in Xintiandi started it all in Shanghai, originally from Singapore where different outlets offer different cuisines from China, this one in Xintiandi is a standout for Cantonese food. Dim Sum here is highly recommended. View listing »

I had heard mixed reviews about this place and was willing to give it a chance until I went there on Sunday. We arrived, 4 adults and 2 x 6 yr old kids. It took them a while to arrange seating, esp for the kids because the chairs were to low and big for them. We were there for the RMB98 (+ 15% service charge) for all you can eat dim sum, they gave us a menu with a list of dim sum items on it. Since it was the first time there for all of us, we asked if we had to order from the menu given to us or does it all just come out? They told us we didn't need to order from the menu so we sat patiently for our food. Half an hour went by, no food, nothing so we asked a waiter what was happening with our food. He quickly went to the kitchen but no one saw him again. 15 minutes later we asked another waiter what was going on and he, again, left for the kitchen and was never seen or heard from again. It was only an hour later when we asked one of the head waiters, what was going on with our food that he informed us that we did actually have to order from the menu!! This was one hour later?!?! We left in disgust for not being communicated to clearly and earlier and left quickly for Crystal Jade. Within 15 minutes of walking in and ordering at Crystal Jade, they provided the kids with kids seats (no questions asked) and we got a steaming plate of dumplings! Now that's service. Forget Ye Shanghai, go to Crystal Jade instead if your're in Xintiandi.
