Strawberry Festival is back! Promoters Modern Sky have announced via their Wechat that their big yearly indie, electro and pop music Strawberry Festival is happening again this year May 1-3. With the world all being messed up and China’s borders still being closed, this is of course a special year for anyone hosting international music festivals. Previous years have seen The Prodigy, Disclosure, and Blonde Redhead, up on the Strawberry stage, this year it’s an all local line-up with a lot of familiar names and the biggest Chinese rock and dance acts from Beijing and beyond. See the flyer for details and full line-ups. It’s out at the Shanghai Oriental Oasis – so unfortunately, they continue moving further away from the city center. It’s a new location for them, somewhere near the Shanghai Golf club out at the Dianshan Lake, a good one hour or so metro ride away from the city center. Bring blankets or chairs, or tents, cause it’ll be an all-day soiree. Compared to previous years its smaller in scale, with 3 stages and 50 gigs, down from the previous 5 stages and 70 gigs bands in 2019. Prices however have taken a different direction, up to 1180 for a three-day ticket. Damn.
Speaking of tickets. They went up for sale on local ticketing sites already earlier today but seem to have sold out within hours (sorry we are a little late on this). We’ll keep you posted if we see more ticketing options opening up, otherwise there’s always the usual options for alternative ticketing channels.
