The Terry Fox Run (also called the Hope Marathon) began in 1980. Initiated by Terry Fox, who stayed optimistic after losing his right leg to cancer in 1977, it aims to raise funds for cancer research. Following his passing in 1981, his legacy endures. Now as an annual key event at SUIS Jiaoke, it aligns with the school's mission to foster global citizenship and resilience, as well as the BC Curriculum's social responsibility goals. Teachers and students walk or run on the school track, with all raised funds donated directly to cancer-fighting foundations
