About the Jiahui Health Scholar Program

Career choices are made early in life and high school students are faced with many questions when it comes to choosing their future career paths. At Jiahui Health, we believe that getting first-hand experience in the field of interest is the best way to enable students to make informed decisions about their future studies and the career they hope to pursue.

Blending lectures, hands-on workshops, shadowing experiences and direct interactions with physicians and other medical staff, the program enables students to experience different departments within a healthcare institution and provides them with practical skills required in the medical field.

Key Components

1. Foundational Training

The Orientation Module not only gives students all the information they need to make the most of their Health Scholar experience and succeed in the hospital setting, it also includes the First Aid component of the AHA Heartsaver course.

2. Medical Workshops & Lectures

Led by our senior physicians, the students will participate in hands-on workshops and lectures across a range of medical specialties. Every workshop and lecture is an in-depth experience allowing students to understand current and new developments in medicine, and apply hands-on skills required by the profession.

Lectures

Each program round includes at least four workshops with one lecture from the selection above.

3. Department Rotation

According to their preferences, students select three medical departments and will rotate between them. During their stay at each department, they will shadow and work alongside our doctors, nurses and administrative staff to get a unique first-hand experience of their daily work.

4. Physician Lunches

Every program round includes lunchtime sessions where our students will meet with department chiefs and physician leaders from different medical specialties, during which they get first-hand career advice as well as invaluable insights into the nature and challenges that are unique to each specialty.

5. Graduation

In presence of our physician leadership, the students present and share their key experiences and findings before being awarded an official certificate of completion.

6. Friendships for Life

Each program cohort is a diverse mix of international and local students from across China and abroad, all sharing a common interest in medicine. The program presents a unique opportunity for students to meet like-minded peers and forge lasting friendships beyond their own school community.

Target auidence:
High school students (Grades 9 and above).

Costs:
RMB 7,000/person.
The program fee includes daily lunch allowances.

Duration:
One week (five working days, Monday to Friday).

Language:
Bilingual - English/Chinese.

Availability:
There will be a total of four program rounds taking place during July and August 2026.

A maximum of 15 health scholars are accepted per program round. Candidates will be chosen based on their application, their interest in healthcare, and their interview performance.

Admission Process

Eligibility:

Students must be studying at accredited high schools at the time of application. There is no pre-requisite course requirement.

Interviews will be conducted from May to June, with both online and offline options available. Interview invitations will be sent via email, please be sure to check your inbox, including the spam folder. Please note that only shortlisted candidates will receive an invitation to interview.
