Shanghai Tower Owns the Sky
#1 - Tallest twisted tower: At 632m, Shanghai Tower spirals 120 degrees from base to roof, engineering that helps it shrug off Pudong's typhoon winds.

#2 - Highest observation deck: Top of the Tower clocks in at 561.3m. Bring snacks and possibly a parachute.

#3 - Tallest lift in a building: The Mitsubishi-built elevator inside Shanghai Tower travels 578.5m —124 of the building's 127 floors — at up to 20.5 m/s.

#4 - Highest restaurant in a building: Heavenly Jin, on level 120, serves Cantonese fine dining 556m above the pavement. Opened June 2021. 256 seats. Don't drop your chopsticks.

#5 - Largest cloisonné floor: Also Shanghai Tower (sensing a theme): 1,232 cloisonné panels covering the 37th floor's lobby.

#6 - Longest laundry chute: Over at the Grand Hyatt in Jin Mao Tower, dirty towels free-fall ~330m from the 87th floor to the basement. Probably the most fun socks have ever had.

Transit + Infrastructure
#7 - Busiest metro system: Shanghai Metro carried 2,287,917,700 passengers in 2022 — averaging 7.36 million riders a day. Yes, it feels that way at 8:45am on Line 2.

#8 - Fastest maglev train in regular public service: The Shanghai Maglev hits 431 km/h (sometimes) on the run from Longyang Road to Pudong Airport — still unbeaten more than 20 years on.

#9 - Largest spiral access to a bridge: The 180m-diameter helix that loops cars onto Nanpu Bridge over the Huangpu. The bridge itself spans 423m.

Tech Future
#10 - Most drones airborne simultaneously: 3,281 drones over the Bund forming the Genesis logo, March 2021.

#11 - Longest journey walked by a humanoid robot: Agibot's robot strolled 106.286 km around Shanghai over four days in November 2025.

Sports + Spectacle
#12 - Largest indoor ski facility: L+SNOW in Lingang sprawls across 98,828.7 m² —verified in September 2024. Real snow, year-round.

#13 - Tallest indoor artificial climbing wall: 51.28m, set by Shanghai New World on the last day of 2020. A six-pitch route, indoors, mid-pandemic.

#14 - Largest immersive theatre show by area: Shanghai Saga production coved 12,110.833 m² of performance space (now closed).

#15 - Largest Evangelion: A 25.06m statue of EVA Test Type-01 unveiled in Shanghai on January 3, 2017. Khara, SCLA and Heitao Interactive collaboration.

#20 - Farthest paper aircraft flight: Liu Liwen launched a paper plane 98.43m here on December 28, 2025 — a record nobody saw coming.
