To get the prices below (after-tax), we searched online for a single night at the end of September to give a general idea of prices. October holiday will be higher, other seasons might be lower.
Price: From 1,280rmb – 3,500rmb
Pet surcharge: 320rmb per night for regular rooms, free if you book a “Pet Suite”
Sun Island Resorts, near Zhujiajiao in Qingpu, is a big resort property with tons of stuff for people to do, from go-karting to horse-riding and 36-hole golf. But the attraction here for pets is the 420sqm indoor pet zone, an outdoor pet play area, a pet swimming pool, grooming services and dog training.
Price: 2,100rmb
Pet surcharge: 150rmb per night for pet + one-off 1,000rmb cleaning fee.
Yes, its pet friendly. Other than the many, many brunches that have been had here by most of us, partly to take advantage of its Pudong skyline but also because of the poooooool, the W also has a sweet gym setup, a spa, and cooler than average rooms. Just make sure your pet doesn’t nab all the Baitu White Rabbit candies from your table, as we’re pretty sure that won’t go down well.
Hyatt Regency Chongming

Price: About 1,100rmb
Pet surcharge: 200rmb per night.
Hyatt Regency is almost certainly the nicest hotel on Chongming island, and a real destination for people with pets; expect to see other four-legged friends bumbling about reception. If you book the more expensive Regency Suite Dog Friendly King Room, it evens comes with a doggy bed and a bowl.
But the best part about Chongming is that it’s still not a massive tourist hotspot. There’s lots of opportunities for long walks with your pet, and for the people, there’s also a fruit picking farm, Dongping National Forest Park, Dongtan Wetland Park, and Mahota Farm which offers farm tours (check for availability).
An important note about the Hyatt Regency: they only accept dogs under 30kg and they require a photocopy of the certificate proving your dog has had a rabies shot in the last year (with the shot given more than 14 days before you check-in).
Address: 15 Jiuxi Lu (Inside Jiuxi Scenic Area)
Contact: +86 571 8761 3666
Pet surcharge: free for one pet, 200rmb for an additional pet (room cleaning charge)
Price: About 1,100rmb (Pets are only permitted in King Size Rooms)
The Jiuxi Scenic Area (Nine Creeks) is full of trees and little else — perfect for walking the dog (or cat; they accept them too). There’s the usual facilities including a swimming pool, restaurant, bar, gym, and sauna. If you plan to stay in Hangzhou for at least a few days, the hotel is in easy distance from both West Lake (11km) and downtown (16km).
Address: Dongshen Village, Moganshan

Pet surcharge: None
Price: About 1,700rmb
Hutu Home (also called Mutujia on Chinese sites) is specifically designed for pets. It provides free pet snacks, food bowls, a doggie swimming pool and even cat litter if you bring a cat.
Interiors are clean and simple, and dogs are welcome in guest rooms and public spaces. If this is your first visit to Moganshan and you plan to stay a while, there’s kayaking, hiking around Moganshan’s scenic area, mountain biking, tea picking, and horse riding (to name a few). There’s also Discovery Adventures Moganshan Park for kids, if you come as a family.
