If you haven’t been to Huashan yet, this is the one. Famous for its sheer cliffs, heart-racing plank paths, and dramatic peaks, Huashan delivers one of China’s most iconic mountain adventures—equal parts adrenaline and awe. Safety harnesses are in place, so it’s thrilling without being reckless.


This 3-day adventure takes you from historic Xi’an to the granite cliffs of Huashan—one of China’s Five Great Mountains and arguably the most dramatic of them all. Expect:

Huashan is located in Shaanxi Province, about 120km east of Xi’an. The mountain is famous for its knife-edge ridges, near-vertical staircases, and cliff-hugging trails. While once considered extremely dangerous, today all exposed sections are secured with harness systems, making the experience safe as long as instructions are followed. The mountain remains legendary not because it’s unsafe—but because of how dramatic it feels.


Arrive in Xi’an anytime by flight or train.
Check in to the hotel and explore the city independently if time allows.

Accommodation: Xi’an hotel (shared room, 2 people per room)
The climb is non-technical but steep, consisting mostly of stairs. You can hike at your own pace, with plenty of photo stops along the way.

For those with extra energy, there’s an optional cliff descent near the hotel using a harness, leading to a small stone pagoda with panoramic views (additional fee).

After sunrise, begin the day’s hike toward South Peak
If time permits, visit Xiyue Temple, the “Forbidden City of the West,” a grand palace-style Taoist temple complex.

Challenging – Long stair climbs, steep sections, and early starts. Suitable for active travelers comfortable with heights. All exposed areas are secured with safety equipment.

Accommodation on Huashan is shared dormitory-style (8–10 people per room). Pillow and blanket are provided. No private room option is available on the mountain.
