Beijing-based painter Li Shan takes over James Cohan Gallery this summer with a series of works dating from the 1970s. A key figure in the Chinese contemporary art movement, Li became the youngest ever member of the 'Wuming' or ‘No Name’ collective at the age of just 14. Inspired by the early French Impressionists, she took to painting 'en plein air' to capture the world around her. On show will be oil paintings from the 1970s. Subjects span Beijing’s public parks, nature and traditional hutongs.
