With successful runs in the major metropolises of the world, The British Museum has brought their 'The History of the World in 100 Objects' exhibition to Shanghai. The central conceit is that these 100 objects trace the development ("development") of human civilization for the last 2 million years. Curated by Neil MacGregor, former director of the British Museum from a pool of almost 800,000 artifacts from Ancient Egypt to the modern age. No entry fee. Beware of massive lines.
