Time After Time Presents: 3AM on Frenchmen
An independent music documentary about everyday struggles, creative problem solving, family togetherness, chasing dreams, unconditional love and awakening to spirituality, "3AM on Frenchmen" was shot in 2017 and signifies the next musical movement to be spawned from the Crescent City. The film had festival play in Nice, France, Harlem, New York and Los Angeles in 2019. Zachary C. Bako, the film's director, has made this film about Ray Wimley, a rising New Orleans street performer who is a husband, father, poet and hip hop emcee. For three years, Bako documented the organic energy Ray Wimley and The Harbinger Project created while they performed on a street corner in New Orleans. Looped vocal percussion, trumpet, jazz piano mixed with a Juno-60 synthesizer and conscious lyrics is a brilliant formula to hear unexpectedly while walking through New Orleans. In 2019, the mayor of New Orleans, LaToya Cantrell, presented the band with a plaque for being culture bearers for the city for their undeniable ability to lift the spirits of its citizens and visiting tourists as they walk down the streets in the French Quarter. The film comes with Chinese and English subtitles. The director will be at the screening and there will be a discussion after the movie. Scan QR code on the poster to book, limited seats available.
