Yim Man-Hyeok: Solo Show
Brand new Seoul-based gallery on Moganshan Lu debuts with a solo show of Yim Man-Hyeok. Yim paints the lives of ordinary people with eastern materials and western methodology.
As an opening exhibition, ParkRyuSook Gallery is pleased to present the recent works of Yim Man-Hyeok. Yim, who studied both Oriental and Western painting, skillfully integrates the sketch techniques and materials used in Oriental painting with the composition and expression methods found in Western painting. As one might be reminded of Chinese landscape painting from his use of sharp lines with acute angles, the familiar subjects in his paintings allow the viewer to approach his work with candor. Though Yim portrays the lives of ordinary people, he finds in the mundane an unconventional energy and subtle tensions stretch across the painting leaving the viewer mesmerized. No map available
