The grand installation by Ghanaian artist El Anatsui not only reshaped the museum’s unique exhibition space—the central hall—but also utilized the entrance lobby for the first time. Originally conceived and created for Tate Modern’s "Hyundai Commission" from 2023 to 2024, this exhibition showcases the largest installation exhibition held at the MAP since its opening. El Anatsui, one of the most influential artists today, was awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 56th Venice Biennale in 2015. The installation is composed of tens of thousands of repurposed bottle caps and metal fragments, delivering a powerful visual impact. Each sculpture reflects his concern with the movement of goods and people during the transatlantic slave trade. Additionally, the exhibition is accompanied by a soundscape created by Ghanaian-British sound artist Peter Adjaye. Visitors can experience this immersive soundscape by scanning the QR code available on-site at the museum.
